Windows could not start the VMware Inventory Service on Local Computer.

All was well up until this morning at some time, then the VWware services would not start due to dependency service VMware Inventory Service not starting with the following error:

“Windows could not start the VMware Inventory Service on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1.”
