Thank you very much for reading my concern, I am taking a project from a company that has a team 8 years ago, HP Proliant 350 g5 and have VMware ESXi 4.1.0-260247 installed, we need to install Windows Server 2016, but with this release we cannot install , we have an original license but for 8 years, a new one must be purchased to be able to install updates, this HP Proliant is supported by the next updates, as far as I can update 5.1, 5.5 ??? thank you very much for your help?

There is some risk when updating, all the commercial infrastructure of the company is there in those virtual machines.?.Thank.

Datastore empty: VMware ESXi 6.5 and NFS Share on StoreOnce 4500

This post was originally published on this site

Hello guys,

I have a problem that my Datastore which is mounted via NFS into my vCenter infrastructure is empty. We are using a HP StoreOnce 4500 and it’s connected with two 10GB SFP modules configured as simple failover.

We had to update our system software from 3.15.x to 3.18.x because we ran into a bug that the NFS connection is lost. I have talked to HP how to perform the update and everything went fine. After the update I had to upgrade all needed components to the appropriate firmware version. The system now runs like a charm, but since the last reboot I don’t see any data within the browser of my vCenter. I have also tried to use SSH, but it always shows “Total 0” with “ls -la”.

The problem is, that there are virtual disks on the datastore and the VM can connect to it so it’s starting like nothing happened. But when I want to move something TO the datastore it’s not possible and the error I get doesn’t say anything. But FROM the datastore to another datastore from another hardware it’s working. We also have datastores connected which are placed on HP 3PAR Storage system. Every datastore I have here is working. I also can browser through the files. It doesn’t matter if it’s with SSH or the datastore browser in vCenter.

I searched the community and found some articles about a master host through which the vCenter is connecting to browse the datastores. I have done all the steps in these articles, but nothing is getting better.

All data on the NFS share seems to be available because on my management GUI of the StoreOnce system it shows me the used space. I have created a NFS share for testing, but it’s the same problem. I connect the datastore, everything is going fine, but I cannot browse it. There are no files.

I tried every host in my cluster, but none of my host shows me any files or folders. It doesn’t matter if SSH or datastore browser.

I hope someone can help me to figure out the problem and find a solution.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Michael

Corrupt Datastore errors on specific VDisk on a SAN

This post was originally published on this site

We have older SAN’s that have 3-4 Vdisks running our VMware environment and I noticed event errors on a single Datastore (Vdisk):

At least one corrupt on-disk lock was detected on volume

53e926eb-5ddb6634-1994-68b59999f910

(adm-san1_Vdisk2_V03 – Adm-Vid1). Other regions of the

volume might be damaged too.

Now at first it was only one datastore and then I started to notice a few others, all associated with one LARGE VM that held video footage that we need. All these datastores track back to the same SAN AND same Vdisk group in that SAN.

I tried to use VOMA to check and fix to no avail. I am not sure how to fix this without loosing any data.

Has anyone seen this?

We have started receiving the warning: “WARNING: LRO: 977: cannot aggr pkt from port 0x5000002 as lro session port is 0x5000004″.  The esx hosts are running 6.5 build 10884925.  I searched through VMware’s knowledge base, without success.  AS of yet I do not see any indications of a problem.  Any information around the error would greatly be appreciated.  We are using a nimble array with HP Proliant DL 380 G10, usiing

Serial port locked after Win10 Pro VM/Service restart

This post was originally published on this site

ESXi 6.7 on HP ProLiant DL380 G9 and Win10 Pro VM.

Physical serial port assigned to VM and works fine under control of a service. It is assigned to device /dev/char/serial/uart0.

Runs for days without a glitch.

If I restart the VM or the service to update a piece of code or a configuration, the serial port is not available anymore, no matter how many times I do resets.

To recover, I need to:

– inhibit the serial port in the VM’s Device Manager

– restart the service

– activate the serial port in the VM’s Device Manager

– restart the service again.

– then it works … until I need to restart the service another time …

Anyone has an idea what the cause may be … and, most importantly, what’s the solution?

Thanks

New ESXI Host, no management connectivity

This post was originally published on this site

I have been trying to figure this out but so far, not able to. this is brand new, never connected to vcenter or anything yet.

Set management network to use all 4 on board 1GB NIC’s, ( I have a fiber network as well as a SANS 10GB also)

I set the ip, subnet, GW and DNS, the NICS note they are connected. also there is activity on the NICs on the back of the server.

I have been looking at the switch ( consulted my network admin) and I can not find any activity on the ports the network cables on the switch.

I have contacted the Server manufacturer and they sent a tech with a new motherboard and that didnt do anything.

Ideas?
