When I see a chart with regular spikes, I often want to know what is the interval between those spikes. Or I might see a sudden jump in a counter value and wish to know how much it jumped by.

Perhaps when you drag select on a chart, the box which pops up could display the difference in x any y coordinates from the point you clicked to where the pointer is now. Maybe a modifier key could disable zooming?
