Enable SSD on Non SSD Drives

To Add SSD Rule and Enable SSD

esxcli storage nmp satp rule add -s VMW_SATP_LOCAL -d naa.xxxxxx01ae0060021d608f911xxxxxx -o enable_ssd

 

Check whether SSD been enabled

esxcli storage nmp satp rule list |grep enable_ssd

 

See the results as similar to below

VMW_SATP_LOCAL naa.xxxxxx01ae0060021d608f911xxxxxx enable_ssd user

 

Run the SSD Rule

esxcli storage core claiming reclaim -d naa.xxxxxx01ae0060021d608f911xxxxxx

 

Check whether SSD Rule Running

 

See the results as similar to below

esxcli storage core device list -d naa.xxxxxx01ae0060021d608f911xxxxxx |grep -i ssd

Is SSD: true

 

Te Remove SSD Rule

esxcli storage nmp satp rule remove -s VMW_SATP_LOCAL -d naa.xxxxxx01ae0060021d608f911xxxxxx

 

Note πŸ™‚ This is not recommended from VMware. However, as a learning for work-around task, this can be used to get familiar.
