Creating a new App Volumes AppStack template – A simpler way

This post was originally published on this site

The most annoying part I find when creating new AppStack templates is moving the newly created template to the “/cloudvolumes/apps_templates/” folder.
KB2116022 ~ (Use SSH to copy the newly created VMDK (both the flat and stub files) from its current location (the virtual machine folder or another location) into the /cloudvolumes/apps_templates/ folder.)

However, if you use VMware Workstation Pro, rather than vSphere, then you can create the new VMDK in the final resting place, (/cloudvolumes/apps_templates/) from the get-go. This negates the need to ssh into vCenter and move the appropriate VMDK files.
